OUR LITTLE TOWN
Tucked along Costa Rica’s Pacific coast, Santa Teresa is a barefoot town where surf culture meets the jungle. Known for consistent waves, slow mornings, and unforgettable sunsets, it’s the kind of place that quietly changes you. The streets are vibrant and alive, lined with cafés, yoga studios, surf shops, and open-air spots that invite you to wander, pause, and connect. Days begin with ocean air and end in golden light, barefoot and unhurried. Time softens here. People linger. Plans loosen. It’s not just somewhere you visit. It’s somewhere you settle into, and suddenly, don’t want to leave.
WHAT IS THE BAYA HOUSE?
The Baya House is a woman-owned and operated boutique property in North Santa Teresa, just 200 meters from the beach and a five-minute walk to the La Lora surf break. A two-bedroom set at pool level, with one double bed and two twin beds
A one-bedroom at the front facing the street with a double bed
Four Hotel Rooms
Each has a private bathroom and overlooks the pool with a shared patio.
Set up with one double bed and one twin, sleeping up to three guests.
The Baya House is designed for travelers who love beautiful spaces, easy living, and the rhythm of surf-town life. Every room is personal, thoughtful, and carefully designed, meant to feel like staying at a friend’s place.
GETTING TO THE BAYA HOUSE
You can reach Santa Teresa a few ways.
The fastest is flying from San José or Liberia to Cóbano, the local airport. From there it’s a 30-minute drive. You can take a taxi with one of our trusted providers, which we’re happy to arrange, or a regular shuttle. There’s no Uber here, but taxis, shuttles, and buses are safe and common.
You can also rent a car. The drive from San José is about 6 hours, and from Liberia about 4.5 hours. Both routes are fully paved, safe, and scenic.
Once in Santa Teresa, we’re in North Santa Teresa on the main road, no hills or mountains. We’re in a quieter pocket of town, just 200 meters from La Lora beach break, about a five-minute walk.
You’ll find us on the right-hand side of the road with a hanging sign out front and another by the entrance. We offer on-site parking for up to four cars.
The easiest way to arrive is to type “The Baya House” into Google Maps. It will guide you straight to us.
